Top Talent Event -
Auditions Sunday 16th May 2010
Fli High are
Stone Festival’s Top Talent in 2010, and will be performing in
Westbridge Park on Carnival Day, 12th June, alongside the
other top acts who made it through the auditions held on Sunday at
Alleyne’s High School. Fli High are a group of 8 young people, all
under 20, who performed a breathtaking routine of break dancing,
described by Pete Morgan, one of the judges, and Radio Stoke’s
Breakfast Show host as absolutely brilliant.

Running them a close second was
James Bell, a 12 year old guitarist who was described by Elaine
Bird, chairman of the judges as very special with an incredible
performance. James was awarded the prize of a day in Matt Bishop’s
recording studio
Third
in the competition was Naomi Dale, with a very confident rendering
of Good Morning Baltimore, from the musical Hairspray. Naomi’s
performance was described by Sara Christie, the third judge, as one
that brought her out in ‘goose bumps’ it was so moving. Naomi will
be very busy on Stone’s Carnival Day as she is also a member of the
Fli High Dance group.

Also invited to take part in the
fun on Carnival Day were Paul Rickett, a guitarist, Meghan Rowe, a
young vocalist and Karen Pfeiffer, a singer and guitarist.
All in all 17 acts applied to take part in Stone Festival’s Top
Talent competition this year, and Elaine Bird, the Chairman of
judges, remarked that the standard was really very high again. The
judges had a great deal of difficulty in separating the top three
acts and are looking forward to seeing them perform in front of a
packed Westbridge Park on Stone’s Carnival Day, 12th
June.
