Festival & Carnival

Soapbox Derby

The Stone Festival Soapbox Derby will be held next Monday (Bank holiday Monday 28th May 2018) in Stone High Street. Entertainment starts at 1:30 pm including dance and general acts. This year we have a new water splash jump. Make sure you, your family and all of your friends are there and don’t miss any of the action. Your support of this and all of our events is greatly appreciated.

Stone Festival Raft Race Goes Ahead

Stone Festival Committee are pleased to announce that all arrangements are now in place and the traditional Festival Raft Race will indeed be taking place this year, on Sunday 3rd June.  Greene King have kindly given permission for us to use the lower car park of the Darlaston Inn as our launch point, and a number of local businesses are pulling together to ensure that we have safe access to the site on the day.  If you have not yet sent in your Raft Race entry form – please download a copy here now, and send it in.  We will of course still accept entries on the day.

Race Bikes To Feature At Two Wheel Tuesday

Reg Richardson – British Champion Motorcyclist from the Classic Era of the sport – is no longer racing the likes of Barry Sheene  but he is still very much involved with racing today.

We are very pleased that Reg, as part of the Mills Racing Team, will be bringing three current racing bikes along to Two Wheel Tuesday.

You may want to bring your earplugs as these machines when they are started up are as loud as they are powerful!

As well as showcasing the bikes, the evening is an opportunity for potential riders to see what is involved in racing them – because Reg is also looking to strengthen the team for the future – and would love to include some local Staffordshire talent

The police will also be offering free (push) bike tagging at Two Wheel Tuesday so do please bring your bicycles to take advantage of this security offer.

Sponsored Dog Walk

This year’s dog walk will be to support hearing dogs for the deaf (www.hearingdogs.org.uk)and they will have a stand at Westbridge Park on carnival day.

Don’t forget to check back with the web site and our Facebook page regularly for all the latest festival and carnival information.
